Currently the park of Komenský is a “park – not-park” – “a smaller ugly brother”. Our design reacts on strict grid of Zlín and so we place many functions and activities (skate park, sporting facilities, children playground, arbour, pétanque playground and others) in regular rectangles. These functions certainly attract various groups of users.
The park design leaves space for the building of the new Cultural Centre Zlín. Another noticeable element is the new promenade connecting the center and many other destinations (Školní Street), which allows new social utilization during summer months for example for front gardens of local cafés or outdoor exhibitions, etc. Our design connects, at least symbolically, otherwise problematically utilized green area – a wedge among the streets (Tomáš Baťa Avenue, Štěfánikova and Gahurova Streets). The area gains its new function as a platform for the monument of Partisan.
